Dad Groups

Dad Group

Hosted by a dad of two, this is a group for dads looking to meet other dads who are in the same life stage of raising young children (newborn-4 years old).

There probably has never been a time where more has been expected of dads in terms of their roles and responsibilities, but the level of support for dads has not kept pace. This group will provide an open-minded environment to discuss the challenges (and positive experiences!) that come with adjusting as a dad.

There are two ways to participate: an in-person group that will meet Sunday evenings at Illuminated Birth & Company and an online group that will meet Thursday evenings.

Both will run in 3 week cohorts and be limited to five participants so that you can really get to know the other dads in your group.

Topics of discussion may include…

  • juggling all the tasks

  • changes in the relationship with your partner

  • financial worries

  • dealing with your triggers

  • changes to your own identity/lifestyle

  • strategizing about screentime

  • and more…

The hope is that you will learn something that will help you better adjust to Dadhood but at the very least you’ll find belonging knowing that other Dads are going through the same stuff you are!

From host, Eric Hsu:

My name is Eric and I’m a proud Dad of two kids, ages 3 and 4mo old. As I supported my wife through the pregnancies and births of our two kids, I was a bit shocked about how little thought and regard there was for the non-birthing partner’s well-being. Adjusting to life with two kids was much harder for me than with one as the amount of responsibility and seemingly negative free time felt overwhelming. I know I could’ve used a group just like this one to talk things through and perhaps learn about things that worked for other Dads going through the same thing. Outside of my life as a Dad, I work in the tech/entertainment space, enjoy woodworking, video games, and spending time outdoors.
